WHAT IS A BI - FUEL SYSTEM ?

Bi Fuel vehicles are those vehicles that run on 2 different fuels i.e. Petrol and LPG. Auto manufacturers are to day offering ‘Bi-Fuel ‘ vehicles with the intention of enabling the Owner of the vehicle to run on the more Economical Fuel i.e. LPG ‘Petrol’ is only a stand by option. The vehicle is switched over to Petrol when LPG runs dry. Petrol enables one to reach the nearest ALDS for a refill.

Where Is The Tank Placed In The Car ?

It is fitted in the luggage space of a car. It is fastened by metal strap so that it does not move while the car is running. As per BIS code it has to be permanently fitted and should be an integral part of a vehicle (As per BIS 14899 for fuel tank container and as per Auto LPG Control Order).

How Will I Know That I Should Refill The Gas ?

The content gauge on the Multi Value and the indicator on the switch mounted on the dash board shows the level of Auto LPG inside the tan, when the level is low it is time for a refill. If you run out of LPG before you reach an ALDS, you can switch over to petrol.
